 The Trade Commission Office of Spain in Chicago is part of a network of five offices (Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami) in the United States. Our goal is foster business relations between Spain and the USA. Our mission is to connect Spanish and US companies and institutions, in particular in the areas of manufacturing, infrastructures and health, promoting investments and greater awareness of business opportunities.

MARIA JESÚS FERNANDEZ- Trade Commissioner of Spain in Chicago. 

Ms. Fernandez previously served as Executive Director at ICEX-Invest in Spain, where she also worked as Director of Financing and Investor Relations. In addition, she served as Trade Commissioner of Spain in Chicago and Director General for International Financing at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. She has also held senior positions at the Bank of Spain, at the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, representing Spain at the Executive Board as Senior Advisor and Alternate Executive Director respectively; and at the Defense of Competition Tribunal, where she was Head of the President’s Office and Deputy Director of the Studies Department.

 Marta Gonzelez Lopez, Deputy Director 

Marta Gonzalez, a native of Madrid, has lived in Chicago since 2007 and currently serves as deputy director for infrastructure and transportation at the Trade Commission of Spain, where she has held different positions within the organization.

The Trade Commission of Spain helps promote Spain-based enterprises seeking opportunities within the U.S. market. As deputy director, Mrs. Gonzalez works with the rest of the staff handling different promotional and business development activities as well as market research to help the Spanish companies succeed in the U.S. market.

Mrs. Gonzalez holds a MBA from ICEX-CECO and has been certified in Integrated Marketing from the University of Chicago. In addition, she has a degree in Journalism and Communications from San Pablo CEU University in Madrid.
