Economic diplomacy, which aims to further strengthen robust economic ties between the Philippines and the US Midwest, is one of the three pillars of the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago’s foreign policy work.
One of the core functions of the Philippine Consulate’s Economic Section is the promotion of trade and investment between the Philippines and the 12 Midwestern states in the USA. The Consulate provides information to investors and locators to the Philippines. The Consulate also assists American companies looking to expand in the Philippines set-up business offices, factories, or logistics facilities. The Consulate’s Economic Section, furthermore supports, Philippine export products and services to the USA.
The Economic Section also organizes business missions and meetings to connect the investors and companies with opportunities in the Philippines. The Philippine Consulate also facilitates the entry of Midwestern businessmen to the Philippines through the issuance of Philippine visa through its Visa Section. Moreover, it facilitates the legalization of documents and contracts through its Notarial Section.
