 Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye 

 Office of the Commercial Attaché operates under Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Chicago, and is responsible for strengthening Türkiye–U.S. trade relations across 13 midwestern states. The office fosters market expansion efforts of Turkish companies and trade centers in Chicago. To this end, it facilitates trade processes and coordinates the commercial activities which Turkish companies, chambers and exporters’ associations take part in. The office engages in dialogue with local trade authorities and U.S. business institutions to create new opportunities for the Turkish business community. Through these efforts, the office plays a key role in deepening economic ties and promoting bilateral trade relations between Türkiye and the US.

Dr. Ahmet Samet Tekoglu

Commercial Attaché | PhD in Administrative Sciences | Public Policy & International Trade Expert

Born in Samsun, Türkiye, Ahmet graduated as the top-ranking student with high honors from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2013. That same year, he began his public service career as an Assistant Foreign Trade Specialist at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Türkiye.

He was promoted to Foreign Trade Specialist in 2016 and served in key departments including the Directorate General for Exports, the Directorate of Audit Services, and the Directorate General of Human Resources. In 2021, he was appointed Head of Department, leading strategic initiatives and overseeing high-level public administration functions.

Since April 2023, he has been serving as the Commercial Attaché of Türkiye in Chicago, representing Türkiye’s trade interests across the U.S. Midwest. He earned his PhD in Administrative Sciences from Ankara University in 2022, with a dissertation titled "Smart-Specializing Universities in Regional Development in Türkiye."
