Consulate General of Brazil in Chicago
The Trade and Investment Department has been created to enrich and facilitate the economic interaction between the two countries. It will support American companies interested in investing in or importing from Brazil, and aid Brazilian business wishing to export products and services to the Midwest.
The department will conduct market research, organize business missions, and help executives and entrepreneurs identify business opportunities. It will provide information on Brazilian-American trade, with an emphasis on business practices and regulations. Additionally, it will participate in business meetings and presentations related to the Brazilian and the international economies.

BENONI BELLI is the Consul General of Brazil in Chicago since August 29, 2020. A career diplomat since 1994, Mr. Belli served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Brazilian Embassy in Washington (December 2012 to January 2017). Throughout his career, Mr. Belli was posted in the Brazilian Mission to the UN in New York (1999 to 2002), the Embassy of Brazil in Buenos Aires (2002 to 2006), and the Embassy of Brazil in Algiers (2006-2008). He held a number of positions in the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, including Director of Policy Planning (2017-2018) and Director of the Department for the USA (2019-2020). Mr. Belli holds a PhD in Sociology (University of Brasilia), a Masters in Political Science (University of Campinas), and a degree in Law (Federal University of Santa Catarina). He is the author of two books published in Brazil and co-edited the volume “The Road Ahead: The 21st-Century World Order in the Eyes of Policy Planners”.
